04/02/25 – 1st 15/8 – Crack On Boys – Tom Clover – Newcastle

Crack On Boys has come on for his first run when a close 4th at Lingfield two months ago. It's a trappy race but the stiff track should suit him and he's in good form.

04/02/25 – 1st 5/2 – La Zoubida – Nicky Richards – Market Rasen

La Zoubida ran quite a nice race in 2nd on debut at Sedgefield considering she was very green. The winner followed up with a win under the penalty while La Zoubida has come on a fair bit for the experience. I'm hoping she is good enough to win this.

04/022/25 – 1st 11/2 – Check The Score – Fergal O’Brien – Market Rasen

Check The Score is in great form at home preparing for the switch to fences. He needs experience and as with most of our runners today, the going is on the soft side of ideal for him. Ultimately, he could be better than this but he does seem ground dependent.

02/02/25 – 3rd 7/1 – Alien Storm – Charlie Longsdon – Musselburgh

Alien Storm has won a couple of chases around Plumpton this winter but will need to improve again to be a factor in this 25k contest. Probably an each-way squeak in a competitive novice handicap chase, although he'll need to make the first two as an each-way bet.

02/02.25 – 3rd 16/1 – Good And Clever – Warren Greatrex – Leopardstown

Good And Clever ran very well last time at Aintree, finishing well into 3rd. It's a stretch to suggest that race would equate to meeting the best of the Irish with Willie Mullins running six, but at least it will give us an idea of where we stand.

02/02/25 – 2nd 14/1 – Bugise Seagull – Charlie Longsdon – Musselburgh

Bugise Seagull goes for the Pertemps qualifier and we need him to finish in the first four to make the final at Cheltenham. He ran well last time when 3rd at Doncaster and the winner of that race has won since. He has been improving and can go close.

01/02/25 – 1st 18/1 – Bay Empress – Micky Hammond – Wetherby

Bay Empress makes her debut here. She has been shaping okay on the gallops and we're hoping for a decent performance.

01/02/25 – 1st 2/1 – The Kalooki Kid – Nicky Richards – Musselburgh

The Kalooki Kid is very unexposed and won nicely at Doncaster last time where his jumping was very good touch wood! He's at the right end of this handicap and I don't think he'll be far away.

01/02/25 – 1st 11/4 – Jumper Madrik – Charlie Longsdon – Wetherby

It hasn't been straightforward keeping Jumper Madrik right but he came good, showing improved form at Leicester last time. Let's hope he can continue the upward curve.

30/01/25 – 1st 100/30 – Filanderer – Hughie Morrison – Wincanton

I'm not sure I would normally be running in ground this bad but we've missed lots of racing and I just hope I don't regret going there. Filanderer got a cut leg when he won last time so we've taken our time. If the jumping holds up he would have a very good chance.

28/01/25 – 1st 7/4 – Blue Betty – Fergal O’Brien – Newcastle

Blue Betty is a mare by Blue Bresil. She cost the Megsons 90k as a 2yo and shapes nicely at home. Hoping for a winning start to her career.

Coup De Coeur knows how to win. From the same source as Monaco Rules, he did okay in valuable chases in France before coming to us and winning twice over hurdles. His first chase run for us the other day was promising and he should run in the money, although the non-runner making it a…

28/01/25 – 3rd 18/1 – Monaco Rules – Micky Hammond – Newcastle

This will be a third run for us for Monaco Rules who hasn't shaped at all badly. A winner previously in three flat races and his one hurdle in France, he ought to be challenging for a place in a race with a few unexposed types.

27/01/25 – 1st 100/30 – Serious Challenge – Fergal O’Brien – Plumpton

Rated above 100 as a stayer on the flat in Ireland, Serious Challenge was too free on hurdles debut at Huntingdon and wasn't disgraced in finishing 5th. If he can conserve his energy, he could easily win this modest contest.

27/01/25 – 1st 13/8 – Jakana – Fergal O’Brien – Sedgefield

Jakana's win at Southwell last time has been boosted by the placed horses both going on to win next time. Carrying a penalty is never easy, but the mare is on the upgrade and we're hopeful she can manage it here.

26/01/25 – 1st 100/30 – Catch Catchfire – Ian Williams – Sedgefield

Catch Catchfire finished very strongly first time over fences at Leicester, looking like a potentially useful chaser. He didn't jump with the same accuracy at Catterick soon after that but has had plenty of schooling since and we are hoping for a positive outcome.

25/01/25 – 2nd 16/1 – Ghasham – Ian Williams – Uttoxeter

Ghasham ran well when 2nd at Huntingdon last time, despite being one of the outsiders. He tops the weights in this 0-100 and if he could replicate the Huntingdon run, he would have to have a big part to play.

25/01/25 – 1st 9/1 – Sixmilebridge – Fergal O’Brien – Cheltenham

Sixmilebridge is going the right way and easily landed the odds last time at Huntingdon. Whether that form is good enough to trouble the hitherto very impressive favourite is another matter entirely.
