I was pleased with Kajaki's run at Doncaster but rather surprised that finishing second to a thrown-in winner deserved a 6lb rise. If the market moves for him, Tony Martin's horse will certainly take the beating, but Kajaki ought to be competitive.

Blue Hussar has a really good chance. He gets a drop in grade today and since his last race when he ran better than the final placings suggest, he's gone well in a racecourse gallop at Wetherby with Cornerstone Lad. I'll be very disappointed if he doesn't go close.

This Irish points winner has run respectably in two bumpers. He gives the impression he probably wouldn't win a bumper so we are starting his hurdling career on the owner's local track. Two miles is likely to be on the short side but this is not the best of races so place chances.

It was Balgemmois' first run back for a long time the other day at Hereford on what was almost unraceable ground - they abandoned after his race! He will have come on for it as long as we're not going too soon with him and we're stepping him up in trip as he settled so…

Square Viviani is not the quickest and he can miss out the odd fence so he can take his time to get back in contention. If it rains before racing, the ground will come in his favour and if he can avoid the jumping errors he would have decent each-way chances.

Castle Robin is a really nice young horse whose experience in Irish points is a positive. I'm less sure about his going 1m6f but he should run a good race.

Highway Girl's form in a competitive mares' race at Warwick is working out well. This is her first handicap and she's up in trip which should help. We're hoping for a decent run.

Martha Brae won nicely last time out and seems to be thriving at home. The track today will suit her and I can see her putting in another strong performance.

Mon Palois has had a difficult time recently and has never shown the same level of form since his fall at Wetherby last season. We are still trying to get him back on track and stepping back to two miles might help, especially with very soft ground. Place chances.

Don't be surprised if Your Darling lives up to his name. He goes very well, but in this ground, who knows?

Tyrsal has a mind of his own. He needs to get the start right and even then it's whether he's in the mood or not. Ask him!

Jaytee was never going the pace on hurdles debut at Newbury. This longer trip is more in keeping with his jumping/stamina pedigree and we'll be looking for rather more involvement today.

Amberose was kicked into touch by Theflickeringlight at Newcastle and that winner followed up in equally convincing style at Wetherby. The truest maxim in racing is that weight can stop a freight train and Amberose is 17lb better for 13 lengths, so she has a sporting chance of overturning the form.

Heavenly Promise is in good form after her short break. She has a 9lb lower mark over hurdles than fences. She will love the heavy ground and this is her perfect trip so we are very hopeful of a win.

Miss Molinari will love the ground and showed at Plumpton if she is anything it's a stayer. We think we're in the right division, so are hopeful of getting in the money.

The Retriever enjoys the surface and has an each-way chance. Paul Mulrennan has ridden him before and believes he is up to winning a race of this nature.

Sammy Bill has won both his chases impressively this season but is still some way off the finished article. A big, keen-going horse with a huge stride, he needs to learns to relax in his races if he’s going to reach his full potential. A good jumper, he can take the odd chance but he…

Petite Power remains in great form and loves these long-distance races. His low weight rather disguises that this is his highest mark yet but he should still go close.

This lovely big horse won his bumper here last year. He ran better than the finishing position suggests on hurdles debut at Ascot and has every chance of winning this to maintain his unbeaten course record.

Shesoneofourown is a quality, rangy mare by Sageburg. She has shown a straight-forward attitude at home but like all of ours first time, will come on for the experience. She is a likeable type and should one day tackle fences. We are looking forward to getting her out and starting her racing career.
