Headstrong Lil is a nice filly who has run well in her bumpers and hurdles and it's a shame she's not managed to get her head in front so far. She could be a consistent horse over hurdles going forward and it would be great if she could get the elusive first win today.

Towards The Dawn ran a very promising race first time back at Ascot. I think he can win this off what looks a fair mark with first-time cheek-pieces on.

Harlow returns to the all-weather on a 6lb higher mark than he runs off on turf. He was consistent if luckless in his runs this summer but has gone well on all-weather in the past and should go close. 

Another sprighty 13-year-old, Perfect Candidate won this race last year and conditions will be very much to his liking. He has been working well at home and if he can manage to get to the front, he should run his race and hopefully get a place.

First Flow loves really soft going so this ground is probably not soft enough. He has a tough task at the weights but he's an honest horse who tries his hardest. Place chances.

Snow Leopardess has run well in two very competitive novice chases and has been in good form at home since Wetherby. We hope she's improved since then and from a nice low weight she could have an each-way chance stepping into handicap company.

Tide Times was disappointing first time out this season but ran much better at Chepstow. He is fairly handicapped and has the benefit of a good 5lb claimer today. Ascot handicaps are always competitive but he has every chance of getting in the frame.

Gentleman Valley is a nice horse making his debut today. He can be a bit fractious but hopefully he will take everything in his stride and and run okay.

This is a competitive race. Wandrin Star goes well fresh as he showed last season when winning first time out at Wincanton. We hope his wind-op will have helped. Place chances

Masked Identity has been running well in good handicap company on turf and has a nice inside draw for this return to Chelmsford. He started from the car park his only previous time here and never got competitive. Big chance tonight.

Golden Taipan was still in contention at Ludlow and that was an improvement on his initial run over fences. This is another very strong race but hopefully he can manage to make the frame. Each-way hopes.

We've been waiting for Shanroe Tic Tec to show something of the form he did early last year when he put together a quick hat-trick. He's not a horse I can ever trust entirely but I think he may be getting back to something like that level. His handicap mark has come down a fair…

Cardano is a very nice horse but we've rather thrown him in at the deep end here today. He's struggled since an excellent comeback run when second to Win O' Clock at Sandown but if he could replicate that, he'd have a chance on his return to all-weather

Lots Of Luck has had a cracking time since going over fences. He ran well again last time when second to a well-handicapped rival at Huntingdon and this extra trip could bring out further improvement. Every chance.

Ballyhome loves Market Rasen - he rarely runs anywhere else as a result. We hope he can build on his latest second and add to the win he had on comeback at the start of the season. Each-way chances. 

Stoner's Choice remains in great form after his two wins. Despite his big penalty he is still the one to beat.

Central City has winning form around here in the past. He's not been the most consistent but has managed a couple of okay placed runs this year and has come down to what could be a workable mark. He may not be far away at the finish. 

Cepheus has a great chance. We know he acts on the track - he ran a blinder in a very hot handicap here  earlier in the summer. He went well later on at Ascot on good to soft in another highly-competitive handicap but the ground for his last two runs was much too testing. He's…
