A dual point winner, The Galahad Kid just got the job done on hurdles debut at Newton Abbot. He has a penalty to carry and Jack's claim can balance that. Should go well again.

D J Zanetti is named for a well-known DJ and TV personality Tom Zanetti who comes from Leeds and likes racing. He'll be our guest at Chester next month. Maybe by then his namesake will have shown enough to join us there. Today it will all probably happen much too quickly for him on debut.

Mokaatil has had a couple of runs for us at Sandown over the years and didn't get there in time but if they go fast that would improve his chances. Also to his advantage is Connor Planas, well worth the 7lb especially in these races. Each-way hopes.

It's been more a case of chasing the races rather than planning a programme with Coconut Bay. She has been gradually improving with racing and this looks a decent opportunity off her low mark.

20/08/22 – 1st 5.6/1 – Checkandchallenge – William Knight – Deauville

It was a big disappointment when Checkandchallenge ran so poorly at Goodwood but he hated the track and he will be much happier on the flat Deauville course. I remain convinced he is well up to Group 3 level and hope he can prove it against some progressive local runners.

19/08/22 – 3rd 33/1 – City Runner – Brian Meehan – York

City Runner won well at Sandown last month and has not been over-penalised, raised 2lb for that. He is at the right end of the handicap and is very attractively priced. Good each-way chances.

19/08/22 – 1st 9/1 – Dark Mystery – Ian Williams – Newbury

It was only a four-horse affair at Newmarket last time but Dark Mystery's half-length second was a distinct improvement on anything he'd shown previously this season. Still on the same mark, he has a fair chance of going one better here.

Leave Her To Me showed plenty of greenness on debut at Southwell in June. She will need to show much more to figure today.

Regaby has been off for a while since a modest sequence in spring and early summer. He needs to get back to last season's better form if he is to figure today.

Eagle's Realm won nicely here last time and up 5lb should have every chance of a follow-up. Very hopeful.

Anightinlambourn is no superstar but she certainly has enough ability to win a race of this nature. She hasn't really fired recently though so while I wouldn't be shocked if she won, I'm equally prepared for her to be fourth or fifth.

15/08/22 – 1st 7/4 – Aviewtosea – Fergal O’Brien – Bangor

Aviewtosea has done well on both chase starts at Uttoxeter since switching from hurdles. He ran into one in Tedham last time and a repetition of that could bring him home in front off bottom weight in this four-horse affair.

15/08/22 – 1st 11/10 – Dynamic Talent – Darryll Holland – Lingfield

Dynamic Talent ran a great race at Kempton last time, making the running until headed in the last furlong, battling back gamely but without enough time to regain the lead. He remains in top form and can dominate here hopefully and gain a well-deserved consolation.
