Sophosc comes here after a short break following a first hurdles success. He stays much further than this and his inexperienced amateur rider will do well to get him involved.

Show Respect impressed at Goodwood and Leicester and didn't get the best of runs in the Coventry at Royal Ascot. As a result his price of 40/1 might be unflattering to this nice colt who could have a small each-way chance if things go his way this time.

There's a few to worry about here but Holkham Bay showed plenty of promise first time when second to a hot favourite over course and distance. He worked nicely on Saturday and we are very hopeful he can make the step up into the winner's spot today.

If Who's The Guv'Nor turns up in the same form as here two weeks ago when Brian Hughes gave him an exemplary ride, he would surely go in again. Still bottom weight despite his 8lb rise for last time, he is meeting better-class rivals who are mostly out of form. Big chance.

Getaway Jewel disappointed last time and has had his issues with temporary lameness in his races. He is closely matched with Arbennig on their run together at Fakenham and on a going day he would be a major contender in this ordinary contest.

Mac Suibhne  might have a tricky name but this private buy from Ireland after his improved second in a point there could be one to remember. He goes well, certainly better than his early hurdles form would suggest, and we are hopeful of a run in the money on this stable debut.

Your Love Is King always runs well at Nottingham as he did a month ago when runner-up on only his second start for the stable. He has a tempting light weight and a highly-capable rider in this amateurs' event so looks the one to beat.
