We're dropping Helluvaboy a little in trip and applying first-time blinkers to try to sharpen him up. We're hoping for a solid run but however that goes, make no mistake he's a nice horse.

There's nothing we don't know about Idilico especially the fact that he has been disappointing in his last few runs. He has had a short break and can run well fresh so he could outrun his odds but that's not much use if you don't win and I can't say I expect that.

Typical Woman didn't run too badly on debut and while this is amuch bigger field I'm not sure it's as strong a contest. I think she could run well and will be surprised if she starts as big a price as the 50/1 available this morning.

Eagle Creek is very well. He's definitely an all-weather horse and ideally suited by seven furlongs and Newcastle. Last time there he was denied a run at a crucial stage. He isn't brilliantly drawn tonight but ran well after a slow start on his only previous race here last November and looks a strong candidate…

I probably should have run Jamacho at Sedgefield but he has been in okay form recently and would have each-way chances again today.

Coral should be going very close today with conditions and trip perfect.

Maxi Jazz ran a decent race when third at Huntingdon before his break but was well beaten on his return.He will be straighter for that and could make the frame. 

Ciotog has come on for his debut at Chelmsford where he was quite headstrong. He could outrun his odds and challenge for a place.

Valentino Dancer ran a blinder in the always competitive Summer Hurdle around here. A repeat of that performance will put him right in the thick of the argument again and we expect him to go very close.

We bought Cherokee Dance quite cheaply from David Simcock's stable at the July Sale at Newmarket. He goes okay at home and looks fairly handicapped on his form and there has been some morning interest in him in today's market. Hopeful of a decent start on what he's shown us so far.

Unusually Autumn War made no show last time at Haydock but the ground was exceptionally quick that day. Two miles around York will play to his strengths and I think he is sure to go well.

Makety has yet to get her head in front but overall she is quite consistent and we were delighted with her second first time over fences back in July. She deserves to win a race and hopefully it will be today.

So far Chica Boom has not lived up to his true potential on the Flat. He has schooled well in preparation for this jumping debut and I am hopeful he will outrun his odds in this small field. 

Testing Faith is a bonny, nicely-bred gelding who goes well at home. He is sure to improve for the experience.

Mrs Fitzherbert came good last time at a long price and off 4lb higher she ought to have her chance tonight. Of course the downside is that very challenging outside draw and the temptation would be to take her out but there are no obvious alternatives so we have to take our medicine. 

Drumlee Watar always puts his best foot forward and remains in good form. We expect him to put in another strong run and that should be good enough for him to get his head in front once again after the near miss last time.

Boy In The Bar had a win at Yarmouth in the summer and also ran a good second here. His latest performance at Wolverhampton can be ignored as he was denied a clear run at a crucial stage. Big each-way chance.  

Betty's Belle is not devoid of ability but this is a competitive enough mares' bumper for the time of year. She is stamina-bred and while I could imagine her running well I doubt whether she will be sharp enough to win at this stage of her development.
