Puerto Banus was a good second here last time, probably starting his run from a little too far back, but then the winner is pretty useful. He deserves a change of luck, but with a decent run he should gain an overdue first win.

Lantiern has been in good form and we have been very happy with him, as he has been schooling very well over fences. We are looking forward to seeing what he can do, but it will not be an easy task to win this novice handicap under top-weight.

Despite a fall on his latest outing, Templepark is a brilliant jumper of fences. He is in great form at home and will take all the beating.

The Vollan was in great form last summer/autumn winning a couple with some excellent placed efforts too. The downside is that he went up 25lb as a result and we're hoping that trying this longer trip might eke out some more improvement and keep him competitive. He'll possibly be going chasing sooner rather than later.

La Don De Vie was bought to race in Australia and will be going there later in the year. It would be good if he could win a nice race and he ran well at Ascot without quite quickening on the ground there up the straight. I always thought he'd enjoy cut but with it…

Heart Of Soul has twice gone to the races since his promising Newmarket comeback over an inadequate trip, and has been forced to miss the races owing to drying ground. Mayson Mount has experience of the track on his debut last autumn and ran a much better race when fourth behind a previous winner at Newmarket on his comeback. This looks very competitive but if Josie can get him away and in a decent position he could prove an each-way proposition at rewarding odds.

Ian Williams was delighted with Harlow's comeback run at Redcar the other day where he flashed home for third after being among the back-markers for much of the race. Left on his turf mark of 64, 8lb less than all-weather, he looks set for a return to the winner's circle.

Raeed, a son of Dark Angel, shows promise at home but will benefit from this first outing of his career.

Chairmanic was just caught out for being a gallop short when mugged close home here on his comeback. I thought he was a little flat at Newmarket but that winner has bolted up again since then. Good each-way claims on a track he clearly likes.

Sebastian Beach is high enough in the ratings but is in the best shape I could have him. I believe he will be suited by the step back up to three miles - he won at the trip for his previous stable - and expect a good run today.

Stormin Norman might just need the run on his comeback but he is a horse that doesn't need too much work. He's very consistent and we think he prefers going this way round. We're more than hopeful, in fact with the way the horses have been running, quietly confident of his going very close.

Medalla De Oro is one from one over hurdles. This  track should suit and as he’s had a run on the Flat recently, he's fit and ready to go. Big chance.

Tel'Art is a horse with ability as he showed in his bumpers, but then he rather lost his way last season over hurdles. I think the little break has done him the world of good and hope for a decent performance.

Ultimate Getaway had patchy form in Irish point-to-points. Since joining us he has improved a great deal physically and goes well on the gallops. Has a big each-way chance first time in a bumper.

Le Boulevardier is a home-bred from a good family and he's been in work for some time. He's quite a lazy horse but goes okay and could run well.

Author's Dream is fit and well after his break. He's a few pounds lower in the weights than when he last raced on turf and has a great each-way chance at a big price.

Cider Apple was green on debut on this course, only running on when the penny dropped late on. She should be a more formidable proposition tonight.

Star Of Athena has one nice win on her card but in reality she's been a little unlucky not to win more. She's a big filly and therefore unsuited by tight tracks. This galloping circuit should be more to her liking and it's not the best race in the world. She should put up a…

This is the right race for Pearl Beach who will clearly appreciate the step up to a mile and a half. I'm less sure about the ground - her dam, whom I trained liked soft - but if she handles it she'll go very close
